About Hawaii's Seed Industry
Dr. James L. Brewbaker, affectionately referred to as "Dr. B" is the founding father of Hawaii's seed industry. His advocacy of Hawaii's competitive edge over other agricultural locations in the US and worldwide, moderate weather and year-round growing conditions, brought the seed companies to Hawaii in the late 1960's. Today, the Hawaii seed industry generates $144 million of economic activity annually through direct and indirect inputs.
