EPA panelists review questionable studies on atrazine as rushed review of important herbicide continues

A second EPA scientific advisory panel reviewed “ecological” studies of the herbicide atrazine, which has been used for 50 years by farmers around the world to fight weeds in corn, grain sorghum and other crops. EPA panelists questioned the design of the studies as well as the reliability of the data. Farmers are concerned about comments made by anti-pesticide proponents who discount the economic benefits of atrazine and suggestions that the EPA may pull the important herbicide as way to regulate the size of the corn market.
